Sermons from My Father: The Armor of God Against Satan

Understanding Satan’s Influence

Satan is more than a being; he manifests in attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors that distance us from God. The Bible outlines these manifestations:

  • Colossians 3:5, 8 teaches that Satan can be found in fornication, inordinate passion, evil desires, uncontrollable anger, wrath, malice, and even in the words we speak.
  • He is present in acts of murder, drunkenness, and envy, feeding on the negativity that leads people astray.

Defeating Satan: The Power of Christ

To overcome Satan, we must arm ourselves with the qualities of Christ. Colossians 3:12-14 guides us to:

  • Accept Christ and allow the Holy Spirit to lead our lives.
  • Cultivate Christ-like qualities: mercy, humility, meekness, patience, forgiveness, and grace.
  • Reflect Christ’s image in our thoughts, actions, and words.

Equipping Yourself with Spiritual Armor

As stated in Ephesians 6:11-18, we must put on the full armor of God to stand against the enemy:

  • Truth: Stand firm in God’s truth to counter deception.
  • Righteousness: Live a life of moral integrity.
  • The Gospel of Peace: Be prepared to spread God’s word.
  • Faith: Use faith as a shield against doubt and fear.
  • Salvation: Rest in the assurance that Christ has saved us.
  • The Sword of the Spirit: Arm yourself with the Word of God.
  • Prayer: Engage in earnest and humble prayer for strength and guidance.

Walking in Victory

Satan thrives on fear and deception, but when we stand on God’s promises, we walk in victory. Instead of dwelling on struggles, embrace the power of faith, truth, and righteousness. Remember, the battle is already won through Christ.
